Residential Care

The care you need, with all the comfort of home.

What Is Residential Care?

Residential care living at HighWray is tailored to each individual, creating a person-centred approach that supports residents to live safely, comfortably and as independently as possible.

We provide 24/7 care, with nurse call bell systems throughout the home, including in each individual room and en-suite, ensuring residents can request support whenever they need it.

Some residents choose residential living for the social aspect and companionship, while continuing to maintain as much independence as possible. Others may require a little extra support and assistance with day-to-day living. We are also able to meet the needs of residents experiencing some cognitive decline or those with a mild dementia diagnosis.

HighWray has undertaken the Six Steps programme with Queenscourt to help ensure we meet the needs of residents approaching end-of-life care. This allows your loved one to remain in their new home, surrounded by familiar people and continuity of care, should this stage of life be reached.

We believe continuity of care is pivotal in helping residents feel known, safe and truly at home.

Rooms & Facilities

HighWray is set in a striking period building — all gables, bay windows and real character — extended over the years with light, airy additions that still feel right at home alongside it. Inside, rooms are single or companion, most with ensuite wet rooms, with the kind of space and natural light you don't often find in a care setting.

Outside, sweeping lawns and mature gardens open onto the Lancashire countryside beyond, with ample parking for visitors, front and rear. The home has also been thoughtfully updated with solar panels and living green roofs — a period building that's as forward-looking as it is full of character, last refurbished in 2022.

At a glance

  • 43 single rooms (42 with ensuite wet room)
  • 1 couples/companion room (with ensuite wet room)
  • Spread across 3 floors
  • Admission from age 60+

Come & See for Yourself

The best way to know if HighWray is right for you or your loved one is to visit. We'll show you around, answer your questions, and help you understand what residential care here would actually look like day to day.

Visitors are welcome throughout the day and evening — we'd just ask that you're mindful of mealtimes (8–9am, 12–1:30pm, and 5–6pm). Parking is available on site, both at the front and rear of the building, with accessible routes to all doors.
